Graphic design, painting, sketching ?????
Help… im 23… and I dream of being a graphic designer but I don’t have any formal training or programs.. Pretty much I don’t have anything for it. I live for art and designing it makes me so happy to see other ppl enjoying my artwork. Really it brings me joy. If I could just figure how to make money doing the things i love…. I would be set…. my plan to start a web site selling my paintings to raise money to buy graphic design programs… computer. Etc. but now Im thinking maybe I should just stick with painting.. and try that..If im going to do this.. I need to know where I should start.. im kinda lost on what my goal should be and how to get started…. Does anyone have any advice????
I am a junior in college and a graphic design major. I understand exactly what you mean; I’m an artist at heart, and in effort to be more practical and have more potential to make money, I chose to be a graphic designer. Flat out, you need the Adobe Design Suite! It will help you SO much to do anything in graphic design. It’s expensive but it’s everything you need and more than worth the money. Also I recommend a Mac computer; classicly they are what is most often used by graphic designers. I’m sure PCs work just as well but I’ve heard Adobe is most compatible with Macs. There are also books out called “Classroom in a Book” put out by Adobe that take you through the different steps to using the features of each program needed for designers.
