Is it possible?
Is it possible to get a decent well paid job doing something you enjoy without holding any qualifications?
I’m currently working a dead end job in a poxy office doing the most boring work in the world (maybe lol)! I’m not stupid, in fact I’m quite intelligent (although i say so myself!) i just hated school and never took my exams!
I’ve often thought about getting some kind of qualifications from perhaps an evening or open university course in something i find interesting (I.T, Web Design or something like that maybe) but I could never afford it. Not with having to pay my rent and all the other costs of living alone! I don’t have to pay a great deal…in fact its quite cheap….but my salary is not great either (14,300 a year) Doesn’t really go a long way!
What do you think? How can I improve my standard of living? Have you been in and got yourself out of my situation?
You need to be looking into part time college,or even on line college. you can keep working to pay the bills and still go to school. I am 51 and started doing this same thing in august of 2006 and I will be graduating in fall of 2009. I will then make the big bucks(lol) What i am saying even working you would be entitled to federal grant money and repayable school loans. I been doing it for a year and I can see the end coming soon.Bottom line you need to put an honest effort into what you do or you won’t appreciate where you go. I mean there may be a slim possibility someone will start you low on the totem pole and teach you but it isn’t like that much in this day and age. Earlier in the century that is how most people got their trades but not so much now.
