Step 1. Click "Start" and then click "My Computer."
Step 2. Click click the drive you want to clean temporary files, and go to "Properties."
Step 3. Click "Disk Cleanup" in the box Properties dialog.
Step 4. The utility calculates the amount of space that can be released based on the data stored on the hard disk. After scan is complete it will display a list of files that can be removed from the computer.
Step 5. View your files if you want to decide that all files want to delete and click OK to delete the files.
Reorganize all the data stored on your hard disk: Sometimes, the data is stored in a fragmented hard disk. The fragmentation of data on the hard disk results in a slower system performance. So, as for the system has a good performance of the data should be defragmented. Windows software includes a utility called "Disk Defragmenter", which makes the task of defragmentation. Perform the following steps to run Disk Defragmenter:
Step 1. Click "Start" and then click "My Computer."
Step 2. Click on the drive from the list of available drive you want to defragment, and then click "Properties" tab.
Step 3. Click the "Tools" tab followed by clicking on the section of defragmentation.
Step 4. Click the option called "Defragment Now."
Step 5. Now the dialog box Disk Defragmenter opens, select the drive to defragment and click "Scan."
Step 6. After completing the task of analyzing the drive, click "Defragment" button to defragment all the data stored in that unit.
