Great Computer!
So far this team has been great, super LFE battery fast implementation and great speed to navigate online. Only downside so far is that I can not change the background image (maybe to save memory).
Good product, good price!
Exactly what was looking for. This is a small laptop, not full size laptop. The only complaint I have is that the operating system is MS Windows 7 (basic) Edition. This means it is stripped of the features that most of us need. You may have to pay extra to upgrade the operating system a version of the operating system that meets your needs.
Thus, both
Very good team for the most part. I'm basically MS Office level and user of the website and am very happy with his role. Especially considering its size and price. GREATER DEMAND (S): only 206GB of free disk space (He says it is 250 GB) .. that should be illegal! Also, could not get the offer antivirus stop popping up no matter what I did .. customer service called, has representatives in India who could barely speak English just to say that is a "software" and just a matter of "hardware" topics are covered by the warranty, and then tried to sell me something like $ 30 for the service call. Are you fucking kidding?! That should also illegal. Who will regulate these companies?!
Great little netbook for the price.
I looked for a netbook for a week and found I could get a notebook from Toshiba at Best Buy for about the same price it had a slightly faster processor than a smaller hard drive. I decided to go with the gateway due to the 250 GB hard drive instead of 120 GB. The slight increase in processor speed in the Toshiba could not offset the price of $ gateways 280 for the door with hard drive bigger. I upgraded the memory to 2 GB maximum (Crucial 2GB CT25664AC667 256Mx64PC2-5300 DDR2 SODIMM 200-Pin Notebook Memory) that really makes a difference just by downloading files or watching video. The battery life seems to be about what is advertised, or perhaps a little better. I removed Norton free software and installed anti-virus and spyware and probably delete the Microsoft Office package, they do not want to pay $ 130 for it. At least I hope that I use no worth in this netbook. Actually expects to use for travel only consisting of web use and email, and maybe video chat from time to time. It is built very solidly, and has great styling. As another reviewer stated, the battery will add about an inch deep in other netbooks, but this is only a problem to find a bag to carry their protection. I ran into a sleeve at Wal-Mart (also here at amazon.com) Targus (Targus 10.2 Peel Slipskin-inch Netbook Case) that looks great and fits perfectly. It comes in burgundy setting that matches exactly. It's a bit more here at amazon.com unless you get cut the blue part, which is about half the price as Wal-Mart. If you are looking for a full-time staff, a netbook is not for you, but if you want mobility a great price then I recommend this Portal.
HD and Great Big Color
I wanted to buy a netbook for a couple of months. I made a lot of shopping but did not pull the trigger until last weekend. That's when I made the leap to buying a Gateway while the LT2030 sale. I have a gateway for my home computer so I had an idea of what quality to expect.
The first thing that struck me was the record 250GB hard drive in the netbook. Most of the other netbooks I was looking only had 160 GB. The extra 90 GB is important simply because I want to take music / video along when I travel. I can easily cut on site to the hard disk for some videos and have something to see while on the plane or in the hotel.
Also I use my computer a lot of business, which means they need connectivity and sufficient power for statistical analysis. In terms of connectivity, this little netbook has everything I need to handle all mail and online responsbility need. The screen size (10.1 ") has taken some time used to, but to get the portability I'm fine with that. I can easily use this netbook in any coffee shop or access point wi-fi on the road. It's easy portable and easy to use.
The power is pretty decent. I do a lot of research that requires the use of SPSS, so I was a little worried about power / throughput. So far seems to be pretty good. In a recent project I had done a regression analysis of base and I did not notice the computer slowing even more so with a statistical model with more than 1000 cases.
The overall usefulness of this netbook is very high. I was not thinking when I bought it, but Then I noticed the seating area of the palms has a bit of te3xture it. It provides a greater "grip" palms, which you will be surprised how useful it can be. It also means that fingerprints and smudges do not appear.
The case is really well designed and not over the top. I bought the unit and the red color of love. I would call a Candy Apple Red, but I think it is officially known as ruby. The case also seems quite robust, so I think it has to cope with normal conditions of use.
The screen is very strong and is probably comparable to a decent LCD screen unit. I do not know the team has the power to handle large video editing, but so far has done quite well at the amateur photo editing with Photoshop Corel.
One of the other things I liked about this particular unit was the keyboard. I had used two netbooks, one with a Chiclet keyboard. I hated the keyboard, and that's one reason I did not jump to a netbook before. The gateway keyboard is less than the full-size keyboard divided normally use. But it has been easier to use than I thought it would. The key to function well, has even tactile feedback to let you know that have positively depressed, and not too delicate. I guess the only complaint would be that my fingers still make mistakes, but that's not a design flaw as much as it is operator error.
If you want a sub-netbook $ 200 then you get smaller hard drive and probably a little slower. That probably will take a lot of users buying this little netbook slippery. $ 350 this netbook is on the high side of costs, but I think well worth it. If you need a netbook that competes with what you have on your desktop then consider this unit.
