BenQ Scanner 5000- The computer reads that hardware is installed but it will not connect to the software.?
I have downloaded the driver and software for this scanner and followed the “wizard” computer instructions… The computer reads the scanner but the software says it can not connect… What does this mean? How do I fix it? Can I do this without purchasing new software? My boss purchased this in Thailand but it has a power adapter and appears to be powered on and functional. I installed mirascan for the driver but I can’t seem to locate a downloadable version of the “mergemagic” software. Is this software necessary to run the scanner? Thanks for any input…
1/ Make sure you have the correct driver: (What version of Windows do you have? Is it fully updated?)

Download it again just to be sure
2/ uninstall any BenQ driver you have installed so far.
3/ disconnect the scanner
4/ disconnect the machine from the network
5/ reboot the machine
6/ disable any security software, eg AV, firewall, anti-spyware stuff
7/ read the readme file and installation sheets which are packaged with the driver software carefully
8/ According to the instructions, they may want you to install the software and reboot BEFORE connecting the hardware, or vice-versa – so do it in the right order.
