Computer software – where it began

The software first theory was proposed by Alan Turing in his 1935 essay, "On Computable Numbers, with an application to Entscheidungsproblem (decision problem). "

The term "software" was first used in print by John W. Tukey in 1958. Colloquially, the term is often used in the sense of application software.

In computer science and engineering software, the software is all information processed by the computer system, programs and data.
