New WordPress Plugin: This Day In History

Why can’t I connect to Microsoft and other computer related software companies’ websites?

I have a IBM laptop with Windows XP Pro SP2. I have turned my security settings all the way down, but to no avail. I have tried changing browsers IE, Firefox, Opera, Chrome, none of them work. AVG and some other software sites do not work either. My mac which uses the same internet connection can connect to these pages just fine. I am kinda out of options.
