Internet Marketing Buzz Words Glossary

Here's a quick glossary of terms commonly used in space marketing Internet. If you know of one that I missed, please let me know and I'll update the post.

Ad Scheduling
In marketing Internet, ad scheduling is the practice of programming a day in several parts, each a different rule applies to advertising on t the basis of advertising objectives, budget, and competitors.

Affiliate
A marketing partner that promotes your products or services under a payment by results agreement.

Avatar
A digital representation of a user in a virtual reality site.

Average Page
The number through pages of a site that visitors view during a single session.

Search
Abbreviation for robot (also known as a spider). It refers to software programs that scan the web. Search engines vary in their purpose of web, indexing pages for search engines to harvest email addresses to spammers

Browser
An application used to view information on the Internet. Browsers offer easy to use interface to navigate and access through the large amount of information on the Internet.

Concealment
Cloaking describes the art of serving a different page to search engine spiders what a human visitor sees. This technique is abused by spammers to fill keyword. Cloaking is a violation of the Terms of Service of search engines and could be a reason for the ban.

Content Network
A group of Web sites that agree to display ads on your site, served by a network of advertising, in exchange for a share of the revenue generated by advertisements.
Online: Google AdSense or Yahoo Publisher Network.

Content (A / B) Testing
Testing the relative effectiveness of various versions of the same advertisement, or other content, in referring visitors to a site. The different versions of content can be uniquely identified by a variable utm_content in the URL tag.

Cost per Sale

CPT
Cost per transaction

CPTM
Cost per thousand impressions goal.

CRM
Relationship Management

CSS
Cascading Style Sheet (file.css)

CTA
Abbreviation content targeted advertising. Refers to the placement of relevant PPC ads on the pages of Web site content search engines do not.

Directory
An index of web sites based primarily on the issue of human categorization. In most cases the content is presented in the directory, editorial team then approve a title and description and URL where the appropriate category. For example, Yahoo is a human edited directory.

Domain
A domain is the main subdivision of Internet addresses, the last three letters after the final point, and tells you what kind of organization to we're trying. There are six top level domains widely used:. Com (commercial), edu (education), net .. (Network Operations). Gov (U.S. government). Mil (U.S. military) y. Org (organization). Two other letter domains represent countries, so,. United Kingdom to the United Kingdom, DK. Denmark. Fr for France. De for Germany. Es for Spain. It is for Italy and so on.

Call
An email intentionally crude or abusive or Usenet message. Rule: Do not. Never. It is not only rude, they leave a trail.

Flash
A program of vector-based animation that has become a popular technology used to deliver content. Today search engines have difficulty indexing robots flash effective as they can not read the text that is held inside.

Geo Targeting
The specific ad delivery geographical distribution Location finder. Geo-targeting allows the advertiser to specify in the notices or not displayed based on user location, which allows localized and personalized results.

Googlebot – The name of the spider used by Google. Instructions can be directed Googlebot in your robots.txt file. statistics can be seen Googlebot web analytics software in web server logs, and the tools Google Webmaster.

Google Dance – Some Internet marketing reference "Google Dance" as the time just after the engine results search pages to change due to a change in Google's algorithms. In general, webmasters and merchants lost their top positions and key locations were who said the "Google Dance" history.

Incoming Link
An inbound link is a hyperlink to a particular Web page from a site others, bringing the traffic to that website. Inbound links important because many search engine algorithms use quality and quantity of inbound links to measure the popularity of a Web page.

Infopreneur
Someone who starts a business in information technology or online communications.

Keyword Research
Keyword research includes the processes and methodologies to research the keywords to be used for campaigns search marketing and Internet.

Keyword Marketing
Keyword marketing is the act, process or technique of promoting, selling and distribution of a product or service online.

KEI
Effectiveness Lexicon

Group news
A Usenet discussion group dedicated to the discussion on a specific topic. Currently, there are over 15,000 newsgroups. usenets Also called, newsgroups consist of messages posted on electronic bulletin tables. Each board has a theme, and there are tens of thousands of newsgroups on every topic imaginable. Many of them cover professional subjects and societies and are rich sources of business information, while others are garbage and contain little more than nonsense.

Inside / Out
Promotion e-mail marketing that usually offers consumers the opportunity to "opt in" (taking action to be part of the promotion) or "opt out "(taking steps to not be part of the promotion). Salespeople can be sensitive about the distinction, although many are concerned about confidentiality on in e-mail, direct mail and the real world, becomes an "opt-out means.

Overture
Formerly known as Overture and known originally as "Go was acquired by Yahoo and Yahoo Search Marketing accounts, and payment is most used search engine, click. Overture supplies results for some of the most popular search engines and search portals including AltaVista, GO, HotBot, iWon, Lycos, MSN Search and others.

Payment by clicking
A valuation model of advertising in which advertisers pay agencies based on how consumers have clicked on a promotion. Sentenced by advertisers and agencies alike for its many vagaries of marketing and technical deficiencies.

Pay per impression
A model for assessing advertising in which advertisers pay agencies based on how many consumers see their promotions.

PPC
Pay Per Click. One type of campaign or service apply a CPC price for relevant keyword phrases easily and accurately calculate the position, the costs of online marketing and ROI of your website. Unlike a maintenance or SEO campaign, the customer only pays for traffic that is provided on the basis of the CPC agreed.

Quality Level
A rating assigned by the search engines that is calculated by measuring the rate of ad clicks, the analysis of the relevance arrival page, and taking into account other factors to determine the quality of a site and reward those with the highest quality with top placement and lower requirements supply. Some factors that constitute a quality score are historical keyword performance, the quality of the landing page of an advertisement, and other attributes undisclosed. All major search engines already use some kind of rating the quality of their search ad algorithm.

Robot

A file in the web directory tree that gives instructions to the robots / spiders in the content so that access.

ROA

SEM
Search Engine Marketing
The construction process marketing of a site in order to improve its position in search engines. SEM includes both search engine optimization (SEO) and payment made click advertising (PPC) and the use of all other areas and services offered by search engines.

Search Terms
The text you type in a search engine for results involving related content.

SEO
Search Engine Optimization is the ongoing process of making a site and its content highly relevant to search engines and search engines. SEO includes technical tasks to make it easier for search engines to find and index a site for the right keywords and marketing efforts focused on making a site more attractive to users. Successful search marketing help to get a top position of the site for words and phrases.

Social Media
One category of sites that are based on participation users and user-generated content. Include social networking sites like LinkedIn, Facebook or MySpace, social bookmarking sites like Del.icio.us, social networking sites news such as Digg or Simpy, and other sites that focus on user interaction.

Squeeze Page
A page that promises to offer some information when the visitor enters some personal information. Normally, it's as simple as a name and email. This information can be used to Visitor market later.

Presentation
It refers to the content presented or proposed for a search engine or directory. Multiple search engines and directories supply forms for users to suggest complete or pay for content to be included. In most cases the actual submission must be optimized to include relevant keyword phrases to increase your chances of being found in a search.

Single User
The total number different users or different computer terminals which have visited a Web site. This is measured using advanced tracking technology or user registration.

Universal Search
Also known as search results or federal mixing, universal search extracts data from multiple databases to display in the same page. Results can include images, videos and results of special databases such as maps and local information, product information or news.

Upload
To send a file from one computer to another via modem or other telecommunication method.

URL
Uniform Resource Locator, an address HTTP used by the World Wide Web to specify a particular site. This is the unique identifier, or address of a website on the internet. URL can be pronounced "who-are-ell" or "Count." The number of web pages, FTP, Gopher, newsgroups and even some email boxes are located.

Zine
Magazines are published digitally, rather than on paper. Some are known, others are oddball and cover almost every topic imaginable
