Checking the use of computer Memory To Speed Up Your PC
Is the equipment as fast as the first day, when it was purchased, the rate has been reduced no reason? Are you getting messages about low memory? Are you tired of your computer is so slow and trying to find a way to accelerate.
PC speed can be affected by many things, but one of the biggest factors is the deficiency of computer storage space. While your PC may have had a lot memory when you bought it, the ability to simply start off with regular use. Most times it is dragged slowly, and may be difficult to know where all memory is gone.
It is a free program called TreeSize and check the memory usage on your PC. Analyze your PC and gives you a list of how much memory each program or file is taking. This program allows you to easily locate memory "pigs" and recover some of that precious space. The program is a free program designed to run on Windows 2000/Vista/XP. An earlier version works on systems running Windows 9x/ME. The program requires 2.1 megabytes of free space to install.
Once you download and install this program, an icon appears on the desktop. The program starts from the shortcut on the desktop and opens a blank window with two menu bars at the top. Select the "Scan" button displays a list of available drives in the system. Once you select a unit, the scan begins. The folder icon will open a navigation pane that can be a specific folder selected. By clicking "OK" starts the scanning process.
As the memory scan is running, passing the mouse over any sub folder will be shown an information panel that displays the details of that item. When scanning is complete, the folders can be expanded as needed to show exactly how much memory is used in each area. By default, memory shown in megabytes. Buttons on the top menu bar to see what options KB (kilobytes), MB (megabytes), GB (gigabytes), or automatic selection of units based on file size.
Other screen modes that let you see the memory usage as a percentage of the size of the drive or folder, or the number of files. Results are sorted numerically by default, but can be sorted alphabetically, if you prefer to click the menu button concerned.
To examine the results, find large blocks of memory being used by programs or files that do not make sense. You can then mouse any file that can not be recognized, and the search for clues in the details. Expand the folders as they go in search of documents showing the main program. To view the documents more easily by clicking the open folder icon and open the file in Windows Explorer.
Go to "Add / Remove Programs "in Control Panel and uninstall the old files that are no longer in use and have built up. The temporary files can often be safely delete to free more memory. If you choose to erase or delete anything, make sure to back up or wait a few weeks to empty the recycle bin so if a problem arises is necessary to restore the file you still have a copy.
You can transfer files and use some programs to other units or archived external storage. Most users store their music and photos in "My Documents" folder. In fact, they are saved by default and tend to take a lot of memory. Some of those records that rarely open can be moved and given much space.
You may have created some new daily folders or records, but have not eliminated the previous edition. After a while all these records are swollen and occupy memory space. Check Always before you delete or remove something.
Once you have completed the cleaning or removal of unused files and moving some of the programs, run a another scan to see how much memory you have won. You can also print reports. Regularly scan are highlighted problems in the future easily and can be handled before performance suffers.
