system memory on my computer from Apple shows that half of it is active.What I can make my system run faster?
My apple an imac g4 and it runs fine but sometimes I can hear the clicking of the hard drive working and will not do anything until it stops clicking. In the follow-up shows that half of my system memory is activated even though I'm not running all you have to take half my system memory. If someone knows more than basics on the Mac, please help me by giving me some ideas on what to try to improve this situation.
A click from the hard disk usually means it is very close to failure. Get a new one. The click is because the hard drive is losing control of some areas of the unit and some space reallocation. The Hard drives are very cheap today. Will only get worse and then one day you will not be able to turn it on. Hard drives today, only last 3-5 years of good use. In addition, you must have at least one gig of memory or more. But that does not help the problem of unity, but that speed up system
