Computer still running slow?
Okay I’m at my wits end. I have done everything I know how to get my computer to running like it should.
I’ve defraged, disk cleaned, AD–awared, Spy-boted, rebooted, temp file deleted, cookie deleted, history deleted, safe moded, zone alarmed this thing to death!!!
I know I need to up my memory from 256 to a gig and I know I let my Mcafee expire and I think that is the biggest thing. What is the best anti-virus software out there that I can buy via the net and install now and what else can I do that is a little bit more involved as far as getting my computer running like when I first bought it?
I’m trying to resist taking it in to get it fix by a pro.
Also, I do a lot of music, my son does a lot of gaming and I’m apart of Second Life which runs like crap on my comp. Can someone suggest what I can do so that my apps run smoothly because right now they all freeze.

go to the [start up] tab and select it
Look at everything here closely and see if you can track down the programs and uncheck the one’s that are not needed all the time.

PS – Disregard ANYTHING you here about reformatting the harddrive, this is a careless venture that is both unsatisfactory and time consuming… often, a novice’s way to fix something they do not understand.
