computer memory question please help GAMER?
WELL MY QUESTION IS I HAVE A COMPAQ COMPUTER Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit OF THE BOARD MOTHER The URL BELOW, SO I AM PLLANNING INSTALLATION XP on a separate hard drive. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00783678&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&softwareitem=pv-54578-1&product=3369460&os=2093&lang=en # I already have upgraded the power supply, 500 WATTS, I'm running an Athlon 64 FX 62 2.8 GHZ proccesor, powered by a NVIDIA 8600 GT, BUT I HAVE THE STOCK REPORT 2 x 512 MB DDR2 4200, I am looking to buy some PATRIOT EXTREME MEMORY DUAL CHANNEL DDR2 6400, 4 GB MEMORY WANT BUT I SEE THAT COME IN 4 X 1 GB, or 2 X 2GB CONFIGURATIONS, THAT ONE OF THE TWO CONFIGURATIONS COMPATIBLE WITH MY ADVICE, PLEASE HELP EVEN WANT THE 4GBs, BUT NOT THAT THE SET OF 2 X 2 GB or 4 x 1 GB, as you guys can IM BOARD has four slots MEMORY OF YOU PLEASE HELP, I AM GAMER ON THIS PLEASE HELP.
get 4×1 GB for sure. that no motherboard can support 2 GB each slot, so go with 4×1 GB. On the other hand, 32-bit operating systems are not compatible with that amount of RAM, and not everyone will use. and you're lucky that supports DDR2-800, most HP motherboard I only support 667 MHz RAM to a maximum. I know that since the HP motherboard I have in my other computer is quite similar, and only supports up to GB each slot, the other the same. yes, 2×2 GB is good to save slots, but do not want to risk the motherboard that do not support that amount of RAM in a slot, and having to return the ram and buy new RAM. So my advice is 4×1 GB.
