To know what it means ECC RAM, let's dissect the words and ECC RAM. ECC correction code support errors, which literally means correcting codes that are not properly encoded. On the other hand, RAM stands for random access memory, which refers to the memory of the computer, which can be any random information that the memory accesses. Together, the codes that are poorly coded in memory storage have been corrected. ECC RAM is commonly known as ECC memory, and comes in the form of a chip. These chips are used more on servers, or mainframes, which in client computers.
The correctness of the data is instantaneous, and not even be aware of their place. Basically what happens is that when data is stored, the code representing the data are calculated and stored. For every 64 bits of data unit, an additional 7 bits are included in storage. So that data unit is recalculated and compared with the original algorithm. If the results match, there was no error. However, a result which means there is no match an error, and the bits are supplied or corrected.
There are two types of memory errors, which are hard and soft. hard disk errors occur when memory a memory chip is defected, and is problematic because it can not be fixed. In addition, program memory errors can occur when there are disturbances in the circuit.
Whether or error is not corrected immediately, the team can get to crash. However, because these chips are used mainly in servers instead of client computers, that computer principal will experience the accident, and not customers. When this happens, the network will also that the main computer has crashed was the server. Even if the client computer is installed with an ECC memory but fails, does not affect the other teams.
