Buying the right equipment for you
Looking to buy a computer? Do you feel uninformed and that prevents a purchase? A Once you learn my steps can be applied all the information and confidence in their purchasing team. First, let's define some of the languages geek required.
A) Desktop Computer: A computer that sits well on the ground or sitting on your desk or table and requires a monitor, mouse and keyboard. A desktop computer usually not portable.
B) Monitor: the screen. Imagine the TV in the computer used so you can see what you are doing in desktop. For example, what you type on the keyboard appears on the monitor.
C) Mouse: A device used to navigate your way around a computer desktop.
D) Keyboard: A device used to write words. The keyboard usually sits in front of the screen with the mouse set on the side of the keyboard.
E) Notebook: A computer that is lightweight and portable, battery operated, and / or plugs into a wall outlet. A laptop has an integrated keyboard and a mouse (touchpad).
F) Central Processing Unit (CPU), commonly known as the processor is the brain of the computer. The CPU speed is measured in gigahertz. A single-core processor represents a single brain, a dual-core processor represents two brains, and a quad-core processor represents four brains. The higher the speed, plus the brain has the fastest processor your computer will be able calculate the information.
G) Gigahertz (GHz): a unit of measurement refers to the time frequency and speed of the processors work a.
H) hard drive (HD): a storage device. Can be internal or laptop. The size of the storage device is measured from of megabytes, gigabytes or terabytes larger.
I) Megabyte, Gigabyte and Terabyte (MB / GB / TB) is a unit of measurement refers to the sizes storage. For example, 1000 MB = 1 GB, 1 TB = 1000 GB.
J) Random Access Memory (RAM): unlike a temporary memory unit hard disk. It is used for the tasks at hand and is cleared each time you shut down your computer. The more you have, the more tasks you can do at the same time and perform at a speed faster. RAM memory units of measurements are similar to the hard disk in megabytes and gigabytes. However, unlike the hard disk speed is also measured.
K) Video card: the graphics adapter that can improve vision display on the monitor.
L) Optical Drive: a device that can read or read / write CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray. Optical drives come in many models to perform various tasks.
M) operation System (OS): a platform to run all applications or programs. There are two main operating systems Apple-Mac and Microsoft Windows. Microsoft operating systems include Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7. The advantage of a Mac operating system to Windows is a superior animation and graphic design. On the other hand, Mac is immune to viruses. The advantages of a Windows operating system, compared with a Mac are: 1) most commonly installed on computers, 2) less expensive, and 3) more software and applications available. In addition, Mac operating systems are only available in laptops not desktops.
Systems Windows operating are available in 32-bit or 64-bit platform. Buying a 64-bit operating system is limited to using software that is specially made for a 64-bit system. Most programs are now more likely to establish a system of 32 bits. Unfortunately, most of them will not run in a 64-bit system. Warning. No Do not confuse a processor called the AMD 64 with an operating system that is 64 bits. AMD 64 processor runs called well in a 32-bit operating system. This system will run most common software that is 32 bits.
The first step to buying the right equipment is decide what their needs on a computer. Need one that is fixed or portable? Both have advantages and disadvantages.
The first advantage of a computer desktop is that runs cooler, thus prolonging the life of the computer. The second advantage is that desktop processors are available in speeds rapid and multiple cores. The third advantage is that many parts are interchangeable, easily replaceable and easily updatable. The fourth advantage of a desktop is that you can choose the size you wish to control and change at any time.
The first advantage is that a laptop is portable. The second advantage is running on battery or AC power source of energy. The third advantage of a laptop is a choice of Apple-Mac operating system or operating system of Microsoft Windows. A decision that is ready to compare the availability of a multitude of places of purchase. You can choose the retail stores like Fry's, Best Buy, Costco, etc, or you can start a search online through Amazon.com, Dell, HP, etc. However, regardless of where you choose, is necessary to apply the full specifications in order to make a fully educated choice. Note that a Mac or a Windows 64-bit operating system limit software will be able to use.
Questions you should ask before buying a computer are:
1. Decide if you want a laptop or desktop computer.
2. What is your price range?
3. Find equipment available to suit your budget in order to compare the specifications.
4. Compare processor speeds and the number of cores.
5. Compare the size of the hard disk.
6. Memory Compare RAM. Compare the amount of RAM preinstalled. Compare how much RAM the computer can keep if you upgrade, there are limits.
7. If you have chosen to buy a laptop, compare the screen size. If you opted to buy a desktop model to compare whether or not it comes with a display / monitor, keyboard and mouse. If the desktop does not come with the needs of the thesis, you have to compare and buy separately. Remember to compare the screen / monitor sizes and prices. You can make a purchase of personal preferences with respect to the keyboard and mouse.
8. Comparison charts. Does have its own graphics memory dedicated, or have to share the computer memory? Ideally, you want to have the graphics that have their own dedicated memory rather than shared memory.
Knowledge in hand, and complete comparisons, do your research and avoid buying spontaneous and especially sales associates who might be working in committee. You can buy the right equipment for you.
