Help with screen resolution and memory?
As laptops for college. My university offers discounts on computers Lenovo laptops, so that's where I go, no doubt. I know very little about computers, actually. Through some research I have come through the Lenovo IdeaPad Y550 (418642U), and am seriously thinking of your model. Memory / hard disk space is very important to me because I have a ridiculous number of photos and music. I've run out of memory on the desktop before, and did not want to relive the experience. This model has 4 GB of memory and a 500 GB hard drive. Is it this enough to give me plenty of room to maneuver, even with downloaded software, videos and many photos? I plan on doing, apart from general Internet, word processing, etc (normal college stuff), much of the work of photoshop photograph. I am concerned about screen resolution. For a 15.6 "widescreen LED is Decent 1366×768 resolution? Is it good? Is it smooth? I have no idea.
4 GB of RAM is enough, even if you are running Windows Vista 64 bits. 500 GB is good as long as you do not put 500 movies on it. This is a very nice laptop specs-wise. The LED screen is very high tech. Go for it. I suppose you a dual-core CPU, probably an Intel Core 2 Duo, which is all you need.
