Computers – General information about the internal components
Although most people use a computer all day, some of much of the day Most people do not know how your computer works inside. This article is to provide a high level of how a computer works by describing of the main components of the computer. With this information you should have enough knowledge to make improvements and basic repairs on your computer.
Subject: The equipment is enclosed within a case. The case is like the metal body of a car. Protects internal components and keeps everything in place.
Source Power: The power supply converts electricity from the power outlet on the internal components can be used. Each component module has its own requirements – different voltages, different currents, etc. The power supply provides the correct power for each component.
Motherboard: The motherboard is like the nervous system of a human being, which connects all the internal components together. All communication is done through the motherboard.
The motherboard also has what is known as integrated devices, devices that add features that are part of the motherboard. Back in the day there was a separate audio card, network card, modem card, so basically a card for each device. But since these cards are so common, and are standard for all teams, for convenience we now come as part of the motherboard.
style = "text-decoration: underline"> CPU: central processing unit, also known as the processor is the logic of the computer. All decisions and calculations are done by the processor. It is the central part of the computer, all other parts are there to support and expand it.
style = "text-decoration: underline"> main memory: main memory, RAM, or memory just is the short-term memory of the computer. It is very fast, but much smaller than the hard, long-term memory.
The processor communicates only with the short-term memory, because long-term memory is too slow. Each time the processor needs some information from the hard disk is first loaded into main memory and works with him there. Then once that has been done and want to save the changes, writes the data to the hard drive for storage.
Hard Drive: The hard drive is the long term, storage, computer memory. It is much bigger and much slower than main memory. The hard disk stores information using magnetic fields to align the magnetic material on the hard disk.
Video Card: The video card is responsible for managing the display and 2D/3D calculations. basic video cards often come integrated into the motherboard. However, the cards more powerful video, 3D-intensive applications come as separate devices large. They are large circuit boards with their own processors (GPUs) and memory.
CD / DVD Drive: A common component in the computer, the CD / DVD is there to read and write CDs and DVDs.
This very high level description of the components that will give you a basic understanding of how the computer works; at least enough to know that if you need more storage space, add or replace the hard disk.
