Computer running slow .. Why? It has 1.5 gig of memory?

My laptop is running very slow. The graphics are too slow. I can run CCleaner to clean it and fix registry errors. I have a lot of hard disk space. I have not a lot of applications running. Even I have the memory allocation software that maximizes memory. These programs are not slowing down. For the life of me, not what is running so slow. I have ADSL connection and the laptop does not sail as fast as it did when new. I've been to places like the service target and view demonstrations of how optomize XP system operating system, however, have had no luck making my computer work as expected. Any ideas? No sypware, viruses, or pop-ups … I checked already. Ah .. and is not an error operator. lol

If you do not know what something is – or leave it as is or in research, you know what to do with it. Also, try to defragment (Cleaning and replacement) the paging file.
