Random Access Memory – RAM?

My computer has never been the fastest computer in the world, but just recently It has been running especially slow – particularly with “video games”. My processor is of reasonable speed, I have a large amount of free hard drive space, my disk has been scanned and defragmented, my internet speed is reasonably fast (irrelevant), and my graphics card is pretty decent. However, I only have 896 MB RAM. I have uninstalled every program i possible can, tidied up my C Drive as much as I could. But programs still run slowly. Now the question part: Is it possible for a lack of RAM to cause a slow running PC, occasional freezes and “lag” in PC games?
I would appreciate professional, knowledgeable or helpful opinions to determine if I need more RAM, if 1 person tells me to “get a new pc urs is rubbish” I will scream as this PC is pretty new.

Seriously… yes RAM will affect game performance. It’s what your computer uses to think about what it needs to do so that you can play. More RAM = Faster Game. Now there’s a fine line for any machine as to how MUCH ram you should add.

Now knowing your processor/motherboard/OS/etc… I would say 1GB would probably give you a small boot… or perhaps adding an entire GB RAM stick as it’s quite cheap now a days.

Another way you can increase game performance, and especially if done along with adding RAM is to upgrade your graphics card. Doing this will take a little bit of stress off your processor and RAM, boosting your overall performance.
