How can I get windows xp operating system for “free” so I can install it in my computer?

I had windows 98 until my computer crashed from downloading to many songs. But I never had the system recovery disks, and I’m trying to avoid paying over $200 for a brand new operating system

Tigerdirect has Home OEM for $80 and Pro OEM for $140. Cheapest to get it legally. OEM means that there’s no free Microsoft tech support.

Avoid eBay and places like it since they usually don’t include the license sticker or they’ve already used it (which makes it annoying to call in and reactivate it for your computer, but it’s doable).

Since it’s a big file, you might be able to find it through a P2P client that specializes in sending huge files. Linux users, like me, like Bittorrent (bittorrent.com) because we can download all of our installation disks quickly (Fedora Core 4 is 5 CDs). Happy searching.
